eBay vs Facebook Marketplace fees
On a local pickup paid in person, Facebook Marketplace takes nothing. On a shipped sale it takes 10%, less than eBay's 13.6% in most categories. Here are both, worked out from each marketplace's published fees for U.S. sellers, checked 2026-09-23.

Fees are not the whole story
- Big and heavy things: a $300 couch picked up locally on Facebook costs nothing in fees; sold on eBay with local pickup it still costs $41.20. Shipping it is rarely worth it at all.
- Collectibles and anything searched by model: eBay's buyers are nationwide and search by exact names, so the item often sells for more there, which can outweigh the higher fee.
- Your time: local sales mean messages, meetups and no-shows; eBay sales mean packing and a trip to the post office.
List on both
You do not have to choose up front. List on eBay and Facebook Marketplace at once, let whichever buyer comes first have it, and record the sale: the eBay listing ends in seconds, and your phone marks the Facebook listing sold.
